In just a few days, the secondary exams (Madhyamik Exam 2024) are set to begin. The Madhyamik exams for the year 2024 will commence from February 2, 2024. According to the Madhyamik Pariksha Board, nearly 10 lakh students are expected to appear for the exams this year. To facilitate students, the board has issued a new notification with the exam details.

The recent notification mentions a change in the exam timing. While previously the exams started at 11:45 AM, they will now begin at 9:45 AM, lasting for two hours until 1:00 PM. The secretary of the board, Subrata Ghosh, issued this notification, citing directives from the state government as the reason for the change in exam timings. However, the specific reasons behind this alteration remain unclear.

The routine for the Madhyamik exams in 2024 has been published. The exams will commence on February 2, 2024, and will continue until February 12, 2024. The exam duration is set at 3 hours and 15 minutes, beginning at 9:45 AM and concluding at 1:00 PM. Students will receive the question papers at 9:45 AM, with 15 minutes allocated for reading. The actual writing of answers will commence at 10:00 AM.

Notably, there haven't been any changes to the previously designated routine. The subjects will be examined on the specified dates as per the original routine. The altered exam schedule has stirred some concerns among anxious students, as the revised starting time may provide limited time for them to reach the exam centers.

On Saturday, the Transport Secretary held a meeting with officials from the Madhyamik Pariksha Board, Higher Secondary Education Council, and Madrasa Board. Following the meeting, it was decided that from the exam days of secondary, higher secondary, and madrasa board exams, government buses will operate across the state from 5 AM, and ferry services will also be available. This decision aims to ensure that every student can reach their exam centers on time. Additionally, the Minister emphasized the need for active police and transport department officers to facilitate this process. The directive also encourages private transport services to be operational during the early hours to support students in reaching their exam centers.
